The 2021 Ford Bronco marked the return of the Bronco nameplate after a 25-year absence, but Ford began proving the new generation's off-road credentials before production models reached customers. The Bronco R prototype was developed by Ford Performance as a purpose-built desert racing vehicle and provided a high-profile preview of the styling and engineering direction behind the reborn Bronco.

The Bronco R made its competition debut at the 2019 Baja 1000, exactly 50 years after Rod Hall and Larry Minor drove a Bronco to the overall victory in the 1969 event. Ford used the prototype program both as a tribute to that historic win and as a demanding real-world test for components and technology associated with the upcoming production Bronco.

This GreenLight Ford Bronco R Prototype Tribute recreates that desert-racing connection with an orange, gray, black, and white Ford Performance-inspired graphics package, BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, rear-mounted spare, aggressive off-road stance, and prominent 2021 markings.

This is the Green Machine Chase version of GreenLight 30349-48. Metallic green wheels and additional green Chase accents distinguish this harder-to-find variation while retaining the Bronco R Prototype Tribute graphics and off-road detailing of the regular release.

Common Collector Questions and Answers

What was the Ford Bronco R prototype?
The Bronco R was a purpose-built Ford Performance desert racing prototype created ahead of the production Bronco's launch. It competed in the Baja 1000 while helping Ford test components and technology associated with the new Bronco program.

Why was the Bronco R connected to the Baja 1000?
Ford debuted the Bronco R 50 years after a Ford Bronco won the 1969 Baja 1000 overall, using the prototype as both a tribute to that victory and a test platform for the returning Bronco.

Is this model a replica of a standard production 2021 Bronco?
No. This release is a Prototype Tribute that uses Bronco R-inspired graphics and off-road details rather than representing an ordinary showroom-spec Bronco.

How can you identify this Green Machine Chase?
The Chase version features metallic green wheels and visible green Chase accents that distinguish it from the standard Bronco R Prototype Tribute release.
