The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray introduced the eighth generation of the Corvette and represented the biggest mechanical change in the model's history. For the first time in a production Corvette, Chevrolet positioned the engine behind the passenger compartment, giving the C8 a mid-engine layout and dramatically changing the proportions and performance characteristics of America's long-running sports car.

This GreenLight release connects the C8 Corvette with the Indianapolis 500, an event with a long history of Corvette pace and official vehicles. The model carries Indy 500 and Gainbridge graphics along with the distinctive side intakes, low body profile, and rear spoiler of the C8 Stingray.

This Green Chrome Chase version of GreenLight 30227 replaces the standard release's red body finish with highly reflective metallic green chrome. Unlike Green Machine variants identified primarily by green wheels, the green chrome body itself provides the major Chase treatment on this Corvette, while the silver wheels and Indy 500 graphics remain visible against the bright green finish.

Common Collector Questions and Answers

What makes the C8 different from every earlier production Corvette?
The C8 was the first production Corvette with its engine mounted behind the passenger compartment. Earlier generations used a front-engine layout dating back to the original 1953 Corvette.

What engine powers the real 2020 Corvette Stingray?
The 2020 Stingray uses Chevrolet's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8, developed specifically for the C8's mid-engine configuration.

Why does the Corvette have such a strong connection to the Indianapolis 500?
Multiple generations of Corvette have served as official Indianapolis 500 pace cars, creating a long-running connection between the Corvette nameplate and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

What makes this Chase different from the standard GreenLight release?
The most obvious Chase feature is the metallic green chrome body finish. The standard version uses the red finish pictured on the card artwork, making the green chrome Chase immediately recognizable.
